Hello there, welcome to this very special edition of RunPod. Here on RunPod, we like to discuss

inspiring stories, challenges taken on by everyday people, and we feature guests who are passionate

about anything to do with running, whether they're good at it or not. I'm Jenny Falconer and this week it makes

complete sense that we talk about some of the incredible running events that take place every

year right on our doorstep. On this week's Run Pod, we're going to focus on one of the biggest

fundraising events in the country, one that really goes that extra mile for an amazing cause,

it's race for life. And to explain more about this amazing event, well, I'm joined by some

amazing people. I'm not going to use amazing every other word, I promise you. I have here with

me, Mike Beeson from Cancer Research UK, which Cancer Research UK, by the way, set up Race for

life over 25 years ago. And let me get this

right, you've volunteered, Mike, at over 100 Race for Life events. Correct. Wow. There goes all your

weekends. I know. I know. It's a great way to spend them. Yeah, what a hero. Alongside Mike,

I've got two amazing women with incredible stories. The first is a friend of mine. She founded Move Charity,

which we will talk about a little bit later. It's Gemma Hillier Moses. Hello. Thank you for

having me on the podcast and getting my double-barred surname right. Lewis will be happy.

Lewis is your husband, who by the way is my running coach. I should point that out. Yes.

They're a very fit couple. If you haven't

heard of Gemma before, by the way, she's like superwoman. She ran the Great North Run in between

chemo cycles. I mean, it's amazing. We are going to be talking about that later. And last, but

certainly not least, 10-time race for lifers. Someone who's fought cancer and come out the other side

as possibly one of the most positive people,

I think any of us could ever have met.
