Everyone has a running story, and today's guest is no exception. On today’s episode of Meet the RunPod Run Club we're joined by the amazing Kirsty Aked. When Kirsty gave birth to her gorgeous daughter Freya, she didn’t know her husband Chris was about to lose his life to to bowel cancer 7 months later at the age of just 33. to be on today. Honestly, it's a joy to have you. So welcome along to Run Pod. Let me start

asking you whereabouts in the world you are today. So I'm at work in Allgate in East London at the

moment, but live in Alpinton in South East London. Okay. And is it true then that you and your hubby started running together?

Whose idea was it to get started?

Well, we say we started running together. My competitive spirit probably took me a little bit further.

We signed up to the marathon together. I think his ambition was always to run London. I'd already done it for

charity a little while before, but you know what it's like getting into London. I've just

had my no from last week. So we entered Brighton as a local one that we knew we could get a space

sport and we started, I say training together. We would do some runs together,

but he was a golf pro, so he was always very busy at the weekends. So he didn't really get

into it as much as I did, whereas I joined a running club and took it to the next level, I'd say.

So we did not run at the actual marathon together. And I know as well, from being someone that plays golf as well,

golf is really time-consuming.
