The next and future chancellor will be Friedrich Merz leading the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Socialist Union, the CSU, two parties that are one dominating the story with the Socialists, the Social Democrats, joining in because it's a minority government.

This is a parliament-like setting. However, as they negotiate to approach their time in office,

Olaf Schultz is now the caretaker of what's left of his government. there are difficulties about what comes next in the

budget. And I read from Reuters, not to cause undue trouble, but here it is.

Reuters wanted us to know this yesterday, and I still want to understand it. Germany's

Greens, May torpedo Merce's spending bonanza, but hint at a deal.
