Summary

I spent almost eight years as a professional boxer, fighting at 154 pounds. And I kept and maintained that weight for years during my boxing career.

Then I retired from boxing and took up elite level road cycling in 2010, and things began to change.

Even riding my bike for hundreds of miles some weeks, my weight shot up by 20 pounds. Plus, my skin was ashy and my gut was hanging out, and I really didn’t feel good.

Here I was, doing ALL this exercising, yet not only was I not maintaining my weight (much less losing weight), I was getting fat!

It didn't make ANY sense!

What was I doing wrong??

I'd been taught that you HAVE to exercise to lose weight, yet here I was, the fittest I'd ever been, but also the FATTEST I'd ever been!

This experience is what finally taught me the TRUTH about exercise and weight loss.

If you're supposed to lose weight and to feel good, you're just supposed to move more.

I am riding all the time and I'm writing so hard.

We rode 100 miles on Saturdays like it was nothing.

video that I was taking. I had like a GoPro on my on my bike and I had had it turned around.

I was talking to the camera and you could just see how huge my thighs were.

My thighs would hit my gut would hit my thighs.

Like my gut was hanging out and it would hit my thighs as I was peddling.

And my thighs were rubbing together.

I'm not saying that thighs shouldn't rub together.

It's just that I had, I was way too thick.

And I just thought, well, I'm just a thick girl.

I'm just a thick girl. I'm just a thick girl. I'm just a thick girl. Well, I didn't feel good. I didn't have energy. I was heavily addicted to Diet Coke, didn't understand the detriment of that. I didn't understand that I was that mainlining sugar from the Costco M&Ms was a problem because I thought, well, I'm writing all the time. What what difference to make? make? At least I'm writing. Like, I just didn't even think about food being the problem. And I was taught, like many of you were taught, that you just need to exercise more. Nobody ever brought up food.
