You're going to be. In 1949 the devil came to St. Louis, or at least some version of him did according to stories, newspaper accounts,

eyewitness testimonies in a terrifying mix of truth and fiction that has been

told and re-told over the last 70 years.

The story of what took place in St Louis has inspired books, documentaries, and even one very famous horror film, and while it is without a doubt,

the most mysterious paranormal event to ever occur in the city, it has become such a strange mix of truth and urban legend that it's hard to know where the real story ends and bad writing from newspaper reporters begins.

But here, in this series within a series of the podcast we're hoping to straighten things out

This is part four of our look into the St. Louis exorcism story so if you're joining us for the first time here, we suggest you go back to

episode 29 where the story begins. Everything about this story is confusing

enough and well we don't want to make it any worse by having you start in the middle.

In our last episode the Exercism of Robbie Doe was underway at the home of his relatives in

Bel-Nor on the northwest side of St. Louis.

After enduring night after night of terror,

his family was so distraught that they were relieved

when Father Boudern suggested that Robbie should be removed

from the house so that the exorcism could continue.

Things were, unbelievably, going to get worse.

And while things certainly hadn't reached the Hollywood level

of what would end up on the silver screen and William Peter Blatties the exorcist.

The difference here is that this is a true story, at least as far as we know.

Was Robbie really possessed by demons?
