Either way is just fine and what this represents is duality opposing forces and yen represents the quieter more subdued but yet still often deep expressions. And I'll share with you your

insight for today and then you'll be guided using today's featured meditation technique, which

is an affirmation. This is an empowering affirmation that will help you to balance

your emotional state to find that sense of inner harmony. So I want to share with you Lau Su's

Tao Te Ching concept of Yen and Yang.

He discusses the two complementary forces that are considered to balance the universe.

Yen represents darkness, femininity, and passivity, while Yang represents light, masculinity, and activity.

And when you understand the interplay between these forces, you can achieve harmony and balance in your

life. How can you do this? Well, you experience the full range of human emotions, as we all do.

And there's a constant interplay of this duality and when you begin to embrace the duality

and allow it this is when you begin to balance your emotional state to where even if you're

feeling angry or upset or fearful or experiencing grief,

you still feel at peace because you're able to tune into the opposing emotion.

So you can still remember your joy. You can still feel at peace.

Because you allow your emotional state without judging it, without thinking that you can

control it or without shoving your emotions aside.

When you allow your emotions, this is when you begin to experience the qualities of each emotional state.

So when you sit down to meditate, the goal isn't to make yourself calm

that day. The goal is to show up for yourself, to accept yourself exactly as you are that day.
