I'm Mary Mechley and I welcome you as you get ready to meditate today as we continue along with the theme we're exploring all about letting go of distractions.

In each episode this week, as always, you're gaining a little insight about the week's theme to release those distractions that seem most pervasive.

And in today's meditation, you're going to be guided as you layer together the meditation techniques we've been exploring all week long.

And this layering effect, I like to call a meditation flow. So you're going to be guided in a let go of distractions flow in today's episode.

As you focus on what matters most to you, this may have been a week where you considered one or two or even three particular distracting thoughts or habits or tendencies you may have that you were focusing on releasing this week.

And that is as you discovered in a few episodes back, one of the best ways to stay on track with your own thoughts and your own agenda so that you're not so distracted is to pick three things each day you want to accomplish.

Well, I want to share with you that when you have an overriding goal you want to focus on, this can be tremendously beneficial.

So if you're a long time listener, you will have chosen a word of the year at the start of a new year.

We select a word that represents what you want to achieve what you're striving towards or a word that resonates with you.

Maybe it's something you want to bring more of into your life.

My word of the year is energy because I'm really paying attention these days to the kind of energy I allow into my life.

So if I notice I'm feeling really irritated or anxious, I'll think about what am I doing to allow these unsettling emotions that are stealing away my energy?

What am I doing that is allowing this in my life?

This helps to remind me of my own goals and how I want to feel and what I'm focusing on.

So when I am with someone or I'm doing something or I'm somewhere, I'm noticing is this contributing and enhancing my energy or is it really bringing it down?

Your word of the year could be peace or limitless or any other thing that you might want to represent your life and what you're working on.
