| 1:11.7 | Thank you. live a purposeful and fulfilling life. Let's go. All right. Welcome to episode 805. Hello, my friend. Welcome to a fresh new episode of new mindset who dis, As always, thank you so much for listening. Thank you for supporting me. And today, I want to talk about something that I find fascinating. It's that, you know, there is this assumption that most of us have in life and it follows us everywhere we go into every interaction, into every sales pitch, every first date, really every room we go to. And, you know, usually it sounds something like this internally. We say that, you know, |
| 1:17.9 | if I can just become a better version of myself, then I'll be happy. If I could just become a |
| 1:23.1 | better version of myself, then I'll truly love myself. And maybe we don't say it in such direct terms, |
| 1:28.5 | but we all have this assumption that the key to life is becoming a better version of ourselves. |
| 1:34.3 | And whatever way we define that, cleaner, sharper, more discipline, more ambitious, smarter, |

| 2:02.1 | present that maybe we'll challenge what you think will ultimately and finally get you to love |
| 2:07.5 | yourself. Whoa, crazy idea. Let's start with the 1980s, a psychologist named E. Tori Higgins, |
| 2:15.2 | who proposed that whenever walking around just as one self, we always |
| 2:21.3 | have three versions of our self that we, again, carry into every interaction. Like psychologically, |
| 2:28.3 | we have three selves. First is your actual self. This is who you believe you are right now. |
| 2:33.4 | It's who you could look at yourself as you are. These are my habits, my patterns, my default. This is who you believe you are right now. It's who you could look at yourself as you are. These are my |
| 2:36.3 | habits, my patterns, my default. This is the way that I show up today as I am today. So the first is |
| 2:41.4 | your actual self. The second is your ideal self. What I just referenced, right? This is who you |
| 2:46.0 | wish you could be. The ideal version of you that feels disciplined and ambitious and expansive and successful. |
| 2:53.5 | So this is the version of you that pulls you forward, your ideal self. Then there's the third |
