Summary

The Cine-Files' Steve Morris and John Rocha continue their 7 Days of Love leading up to Valentine's Day on the 14th with today's re-release of their episode on The Birdcage with special guest The Geek Buddies' Michael Vogel! One of the best adaptations from the original source material La Cage aux Folles, this delightful, hilarious and vibrant comedy stars the late Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman, Dianne Weist, Calista Flockhart, and the über talented Hank Azaria. A film that blends fish out of water comedy and mistaken identity comedy and pratfall comedy effortlessly as it also tackles the issues of gay marriage, having gay parents, meeting your siginifcant other's family for the first time, being proud of who you are and were you come from AND how to deal with people who disagree with you WITHOUT being disagreeable. Truly one of Mike Nichols' best directorial efforts and one we loved discussing here on this episode. So Happy Valentine's Day, Cine-Files fans, and enjoy our chat on The Birdcage!

0:48.8

time in the 90s and just absolutely loving it and loving that it was so open in its portrayal of a

0:54.7

homosexual relationship at a time when that was still somewhat new and

0:59.1

somewhat vilified and people had issues with it and to see it displayed in such a way I thought worked so well and the wonderful performances of

see in this movie.
