A mudra is simply a way to position your hand to activate a particular area of your brain when you meditate. Discover how ambiguity contributes to fear and uncertainty and what you can do to break free from judging yourself, others and the world around you.. You're invited to a weeklong non-judgement meditation challenge. This is part 4 of a 7-Part Meditation Series on Non-Judgement, Episodes 667-673. And each technique is customized around a weekly theme. And our theme for this week is non-judgment, non-judgment in regard to yourself, to others, to your life and your world around you. |
| 0:32.1 | And really, it's about just becoming aware of where your thoughts are leading you when you think about |
| 0:41.1 | especially different stress triggers and in yesterday's meditation I shared |
| 0:49.0 | with you an article I read from psychology today where it talked about researchers who explored ambiguity |
| 1:00.0 | and how the more ambiguous something is, so the less you really understand something or someone, |
| 1:09.0 | the more likely you are to bring that out of context. |
| 1:14.6 | So your judgment can go way out of context. |
| 1:18.6 | And I think this makes sense and you think about your own life where you may meet someone |
| 1:25.6 | and you think they're a particular way. |
| 1:30.0 | And so you kind of judge them as being a certain way. |
| 1:34.2 | And then as you get to know them a little more, |
| 1:37.7 | you can become very surprised to discover that they may be quite different from what you expected or from what you thought about them originally. |
| 1:51.4 | And so our beliefs and judgments about a lot of different things can simply be uncertainty and insecurity and fear we may have |
| 2:06.2 | about something unknown to us so really pay attention to where your thoughts take you |
| 2:14.7 | you know this reminds me of my grandfather |
| 2:20.3 | who lived during the time of World War II. |
| 2:26.3 | And in fact, his brother volunteered to go to war. |
| 2:33.3 | So he wasn't drafted, he volunteered to go to war. So he wasn't drafted, he volunteered to go to war. And he happened to end up |
| 2:40.5 | on the island of Iwo Jima in the South Pacific, which is where one of the fiercest battles took place |
| 2:49.3 | between the Japanese and the Americans. And they finally won the |
| 2:55.1 | island. It's just this small round volcanic island. There's a volcano right in the middle of |
| 3:02.9 | the island. And it was really a fierce battle. |
