Hi, this is John. This week on The Synophiles, Steve and I talk one of our most requested

films and one of my personal favorites for decades. 1982's The Thing, directed by John Carpenter.

It's an incredible film.

It's a remake, some of you may not know this, it's a remake of a black and white film.

And of course there was a remake of this film, which is considered a prequel that was done with the Mary Elizabeth

Winstead, but this is the one that stands out of all those films.

It's considered one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made, one of the greatest horror films ever made, and it stars Kurt Russell in his full

80s glory with that incredible mullet and that phenomenal beard.

And of course Keith David has long for the ride and a host of other incredible character actors like

Wilford Brimley, Richard Dissert, Richard Masour,

T.K. Carter.

So it's a who's who of character actors all over this film

and when you see it for the first time, I think you'll remember a lot of them from being in other films as well.

It's a film that grabs you from the beginning with this pulsing soundtrack and never lets you go

until the final moment between Keith David and Kurt Russell.
