Summary

Be guided in a meditation to empower yourself. You'll be guided in a meditation with the option to focus on your first chakra to ground yourself. Detoxing is not so often about cleansing and letting go. Some of the best ways to renew yourself include allowing yourself to expand to more of who you are. Every day this week you'll focus on a meditation technique to help you live your life more authentically. You can do this meditation either seated or walking -- you always have a choice. This is part 5 of a 7-Part Meditation Series on Detoxing, Episodes 653-659. As always, you don't have to do the meditation techniques -- they are simply there to help you transition from your busy day to a state of stillness. The techniques also help to calm "monkey mind," when your thoughts continuously interrupt your meditation. Welcome to the Daily Meditation Podcast. I'm Mary Meckley and I'm a meditation teacher who shares a different meditation technique on the podcast. And each technique is customized around a weekly theme. Well, our weekly theme for this week is about detoxing your thoughts. And so throughout the week, you've learned a different

0:24.1

meditation technique to help you focus on ways to expand yourself. So rather than letting go and

0:34.3

trying to get rid of, thoughts that are not very supportive for you.

0:40.0

These negative thoughts where research shows that over 80% of the thoughts we think each day

0:46.2

are negative and that over 90% of those thoughts are repetitive.

0:53.3

So many of us may go around repeating negative thoughts all day long.

1:00.3

So if you can relate to that, I think you are going to really enjoy this week's series.

1:08.9

So as we go through the series, today happens to be Thursday. So it's the

1:15.2

fifth day of the series. And every Thursday I share a chakra technique. Now you don't have to do

1:23.5

the meditation techniques in order to benefit from the meditation, but I encourage you to try

1:29.3

something new. Be expansive as you're being expansive this week and detoxing your thoughts.

1:37.9

Try a new technique and you never know how it might work for you. Now, chakras are simply energy centers throughout your body.

1:49.0

You can consider them kind of like where your emotions are stored.

1:56.0

So we have a physical spine that helps support our body and we have organs that do different functions

2:03.6

in the body, well, it makes sense that these emotions we have, these thoughts we have, these

2:10.6

memories, they're kind of lodged somewhere. And so the ancient yogis believed that there must be some kind of a system to store

2:21.4

our thoughts, our emotions, and so forth. And so they came up with the chakras. Now many people

2:29.4

will agree that there are seven chakras. Some that there are more or less I tend to focus

2:37.4

mostly on the seven chakras now the chakras are all of you you are not just one particular

2:48.8

emotion you may feel very strongly sometimes.

2:52.6

You may have a lot of joy or anger or excitement,

2:57.6

but all your other emotions comprise you and who you are as well
