Summary

Be guided in a meditation to let go of your ego. You'll be guided using a chakra technique to help you focus. As you become more aware of what triggers you to feel a certain way, you can begin to take things less personally, and feel more connected to the world around you. I also share a question from a listener who wonders how to be consistent with meditation even when she doesn't feel good about herself. This is part 5 of a 7-Part Meditations on Focus, Episodes 596-602. As always, you don't have to do the meditation techniques -- they are simply there to help you transition from your busy day to a state of stillness. The techniques also help to calm "monkey mind," when your thoughts continuously interrupt your meditation. Welcome to the Daily Meditation Podcast. I'm Mary Meckley and I'm a meditation teacher who shares a different meditation technique every day customized around a weekly theme. And in this week's theme, we are focusing our mind.

0:24.5

So the theme is focus.

0:27.3

And in today's episode, which is episode 6001, you're going to be guided using a chakra meditation technique. So every Thursday, as I record this,

0:41.0

it's for a Thursday meditation. I share a chakra meditation technique. And if you're not sure what

0:48.6

chakras are, no worries at all. Chakras are simply energy centers where your emotions and your feelings and

0:59.3

memories are harbored. So just as you have a physical spine to support your different organs

1:06.0

that help your body function on a physical level, well, the ancient yogis over 5,000 years ago,

1:14.5

determined that there must be certain centers within us that harbor our emotions, our

1:23.6

memories, and our feelings. And so they came up with a system of chakras, and the chakras

1:30.5

correspond with different emotions and different elements and even different minerals and stones.

1:38.8

You can take it pretty deeply. I just touch on the main attributes of the chakras, but I had a listener reach out

1:48.1

to me recently who requested that I mentioned the different stones or crystals that can be

1:56.2

associated with each chakra when I share that in each chakra's meditation and these are just ways to help support your meditation ritual

2:05.6

Like I said, you don't have to do the meditation technique

2:10.6

You can still receive the benefit of the meditation without doing the meditation technique

2:17.4

Well, I also want to mention before I guide you into the chakra meditation of the meditation without doing the meditation technique.

2:23.4

Well, I also want to mention, before I guide you into the chakra meditation, that I had a listener reach out to me who mentioned something very important.

2:30.5

And she mentioned how her biggest challenge was being consistent with her meditation ritual.

2:41.0

And as she focused on her feelings this week, which is a big part of what we've been discussing in this week's focus meditation series,

2:53.9

how a lot of times we consider focus to be a tool or technique. And really, if you consider

3:03.3

where your emotions are taking you, that has so much to do with how well you can focus so

3:13.3

if your emotions take you way out of your center that feeling of feeling centered or connected to your authentic self, then you're going to
