Hi, this is Steve. Last week we lost the great Martin Landau, who was not only a brilliant actor, but a great teacher, director, and a communicator about the craft of acting.

In fact, he's so deeply connected to the profession of acting. In fact, he's so deeply connected to the profession of acting that it would be tough to imagine that craft without him.

As an early student of the actor's studio, he studied with Steve McQueen, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, John

Cassavetes, and Eli Wallach. As a teacher he trained generations of actors

including Jack Nicholson and Angelica Houston.

And as a performer, he stunned audiences

with great performances for Alfred Hitchcock,

Francis Ford Coppola, and Tim Burton.

However, it's his performance in Woody Allen's

crimes and misdemeanors, which is, for me, his most shattering and haunting.

Crimes and Misdemeanors is a rich, complex, dark, funny, and in the end, unknowable exploration into faith, sin, justice, and guilt.

It is without question, one of my favorite films and a perfect introduction both to Landau and one of the most prolific

writer directors of all time. The brilliant, funny, and endlessly fascinating, Woody

Allen.
