Summary
Be guided in a meditation focused on joy. Sometimes humor can be a cure for those emotions that can bring you to your knees such as grief, depression, anger and fear. In this guided meditation you'll focus on not approaching life challenges with less emotional attachment, and more perspective with humor. This is part 1 of a 7-Part Meditations on Love, Episodes 569-575. As always, you don't have to do the meditation techniques -- they are simply there to help you transition from your busy day to a state of stillness. The techniques also help to calm "monkey mind," when your thoughts continuously interrupt your meditation. | 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Daily Meditation Podcast. This is Mary Meckley and I'm a meditation teacher who shares a different meditation technique every single day based on a weekly theme. And our themes change each week. We just finished up a meditation series on love and throughout the entire month |
| 0:24.2 | of December. So throughout the holiday season for many people leading up to the new year now |
| 0:31.0 | as I record this, we discovered and did meditations based on a lot of the beautiful qualities of the spirit. We did |
| 0:41.0 | meditations on peace and forgiveness and faith and love. And I know that for some of you, |
| 0:51.8 | especially if you're in our private Facebook group you |
| 0:55.4 | mentioned that some of these themes were really challenging for you and so I want to |
| 1:01.7 | take this week to give you some downtime to relax and just celebrate so these are joy meditations and then we're going to start some |
| 1:16.6 | meditations to help you do some goal setting for the new year. But first I want you to just relax and celebrate. So this happens to be episode 569. And in today's meditation, |
| 1:36.7 | we start this new theme of joy meditations, where you just relax and enjoy yourself as you get ready to close out a new year. |
| 1:47.3 | And by the way, if you'd like to become part of our private Facebook group, you can head over to |
| 1:54.8 | dip and om.com. That's my website. And there you'll find if you just go to our meditation series this week, |
| 2:05.0 | the Joy Meditations, you will see an invitation to our private Facebook group or you can |
| 2:11.6 | simply head over to the Sip and Om Facebook group and send me a message and just say, hey, please add me to your private group and I'll gladly do that. |
| 2:23.8 | We do weekly challenges based on the theme where I share research and inspiration and you can ask questions and just connect with other meditators from around the world. |
| 2:37.0 | It's a very diverse group of people, so I would love to meet you there. |
| 2:43.0 | Well, let's get you started then, and just enjoy as you get ready to close out the rest of the year you may have the holidays some of the |
| 2:53.7 | major holidays for you behind you and you're just looking forward to celebrating and |
| 3:00.8 | closing out this year of 2015 and launching into a brand new year of 2016. So go ahead and make yourself nice and |
| 3:11.9 | comfortable there. I encourage you to use a meditation cushion or just cushions from around your |
| 3:19.2 | home even and prop them up under your hips. If you're seated on the floor, just take a pillow |
| 3:27.0 | and prop it under your hips. And you could even do this if you're seated in a chair |
| 3:33.0 | or on the end of your bed because what this does is it kind of rolls your hips forward |
