This is what Jesus was talking about when he said unless your righteousness exceeds the

righteousness of the Pharisees you will not participate in the kingdom of God.

If we had the contemporary version of that, unless your righteousness exceeds the religious

rules that we grew up with, we'll most likely miss the kingdom of God.

See we are strangely blinded with this desire to establish our own righteousness rather than the accept the gift of righteousness from God.

It's a special time of the year for us.

We always want to begin our year by giving God a specific

invitation into what we're doing. And to kind of support that, we'll do some fun things around

church, but don't be confused. Our objective is the invitation to God.

And that really begins in His Word and in our hearts. Our topic for this series that we're going

to revisit throughout this year is unbelievable

blessings. The premise is simple. The scripture presents to us blessings from

God that are so expansive in their scope,

so overreaching and their influence in our lives,

the breadth of them is so phenomenal that if it weren't

for the presentation of scripture that supported it,

I would dismiss them as just being unbelievable.
