Summary

Steve Glaveski is CEO and Co-Founder of Collective Campus, a corporate innovation and startup accelerator based in Melbourne, Australia with clients across the world. He is the author of the current Wiley book, Employee to Entrepreneur, which is available in bookstores around the world, and previously self-published two books, including an Amazon bestseller. Steve co-founded Lemonade Stand – a children's entrepreneurship program, hosts the Apple Podcast charting Future Squared, is a founding investor in Konkrete, a blockchain-enabled share registry and is a contributor to Harvard Business Review. When he's not working, he can be found in the gym, at a heavy metal concert, hiking in the mountains whilst listening to the Joe Rogan Experience, riding his motorbike (or skateboard), reading a book, or doing an occasional bit of what barely qualifies as stand-up comedy! Definitely that wasn't the case previously. Throughout much of my twenties, I was the type of person who would respond with an involuntary reaction rather than with voluntary reason. That manifested itself in relationships with girlfriends and family. I would be more inclined to snap rather than to have a conversation. Nowadays, mindfulness is like a muscle, the more you train it the more it becomes second nature. Now if something negative happens, I take it as an opportunity to get better. I will say, great, this happened, let's respond in a positive way and let's find a solution. That's been huge for me because it's so easy to go through life in a reactive state. Thoughts on Breathing Oh yes, breathing. Yesterday I was hosting a podcast, and even though I am 311 episodes in, I always get a little bit of anxiety before a podcast episode. So before this particular episode, I went for a twenty minute walk and then I just sat in a quiet meeting room at our office and I just breathed for five minutes, deep breathing, focusing on the breath. That just brought me right back down.
