Well, look at that, we are at the final day of week one of the TBTL Summer Games, that's right, it's a Friday y'all, hope you're having a good one, my name is Luke Burbank, I am your slightly nervous host for this episode of the Summer Games, I'll explain in a moment, once I welcome my good friend and the longest running co-bro of the show Andrew Walsh,

do the program, Andrew, welcome, hello. Hello, I'm the very nervous host, you're the somewhat nervous host.

I'm extremely nervous myself here because what I'm realizing, and you know, this is of course the time during the summer where we pre-record some shows and then we take a little time off and we were having some technical times,

this is the both times that we've sat down to record some summer games, there have been some issues on my side, and it has to do with my internet connectivity, and the short version, Andrew, is I just realized that while I have this particular setup going for you where I am connected physically connected to the internet router at my house, it means that I'm not charging my laptop.

So my laptop, the thing that's allowing me to get on the internet, to get on the Google Chrome, and then get on the Source Connect program, and then talk to you, that laptop is not currently getting a charge, so this is what I have done.

It has probably, I'd say, maybe a third of its battery life left. My dream is that that will be enough to get us through this episode, and then I have the whole weekend to figure out some kind of new approach.

I can go find a different dongle, I don't know, I can get creative, I do have another, I have a USB-C to double USB, which might help, that might come in handy, but I have turned my screen completely off, because I'm under the impression that what eats most of the power when your laptop is running is lighting the screen up.

Would you say that's probably what's going to use, what's the biggest drain on the battery?

Now I am really nervous, yeah, I think that's probably pretty smart, so what's the deal, you only have one working input on that, so it can either be the thing that connects you to the audio board or the thing that powers it up.

This is where I knew things were going to get complicated.

I have the brand of Mac book air that I have, it only has two inputs on the entire computer, and they are just two little USB-C inputs.

I guess that's in the interest of streamlining everything and of making me buy a new product, so thank you very much Tim Apple for making that happen.

So in order for me to be connected to the internet to an Ethernet cable, I have to be using this dongle, and this dongle thing plugs into, takes up both of my existing USB-C ports.

So you could use a splitter potentially?

Well I don't have a one USB-C, because here's the thing, I need to have two USB-C's in because one of them is what I use to talk to you on this other little product called the mix pre, the DAWs, the digital input that I use.

See the listeners, this has actually been useful Andrew, because the listeners think that this is just some kind of, you know, we're talking to each other on two tin cans with a string running up the Columbia River.

No man, there's digital audio, whatever the W stands for, there's a lot going on here.

So I've got one USB-C coming in from my mix pre, and then I got another one coming in from the power, and that should be sufficient, but for some reason it isn't.

It's just one of those funky things, funky little thing. So I have, first of all, I have another one of these dongle somewhere, Andrew, because you know me, I'm nothing if not in love with buying multiples.

And so when we're done with this show, I'm going to change out the dongle and see if that works, and then if not, I can go up to the future home of TVTL, which is just up the stairs, up in the studio.
