Summary

This weeks episode is all about the psychology of training and mental toughness. Unlike the physical changes made in the gym (that are very measurable), the mental changes aren't as easy to quantify.
Joe sits down with longtime "DeFranco disciple" Pat Cole to get an athlete's perspective on what it was like to "grow up" in DeFranco's Gym. Pat gives some incredible insight on how he went from a nervous 13-year-old kid to a confident scholarship athlete. He also won the World's Strongest Athlete competition in 2010 in what Joe referred to as "the most epic moment in DeFranco's Gym history."
The insight and behind-the-scenes stories in this episode will give you a much better understanding as to why DeFranco's Gym is such a successful brand....(and it has nothing to do with bands, chains or getting athletes to faster.)

we held it in 2010 and man what do you hear some of the inside scoop and some of the stories behind his double overtime

1:25.6

victory at that event which I referred to as one of the most epic moments in

1:31.5

de Franco's gym history and it really was. So that was really

1:36.0

cool to get the inside scoop on that. Then we get into where Pat is now. He went

1:41.8

on to the University of Maryland and just graduated he

1:45.2

actually holds the school record for the hammer throw but besides all the

physical attributes and him being a great athlete, he has really become a huge part of my life and my wife's life even.

We have just developed a great relationship and that trust that's been built and you know anybody who owns a

gym this is something that's not talked about a lot but it's just so important to

develop those relationships and and trust and all the other aspects that go into the gym instead of just the
