Summary

The Godfather is, without question, one of the most eagerly anticipated movies in the history of The Cine-Files and that's not surprising. After all, it ranks as the number two film on the latest AFI 100, surpassed only by Citizen Kane. To say that Steve and John approached this masterpiece with trepidation is an understatement but, the fact is, the conversation they had was so much fun that it will probably end up being the longest exploration of a film in the history of the podcast (at least, that is, until they move on to The Godfather Part 2)

If you haven't seen this incredible film you can buy or stream it right here.

for film and perhaps no director exemplifies that decade its passion, artistry,

0:30.9

madness, and excess more than Francis Ford Coppola.

0:36.0

In a way, Coppola is the godfather of an entire generation of filmmakers, and this film,

0:42.0

based on the Mario Pouso bestseller, manages to be at once personal

0:46.7

and grand, a window into an experience which is both uniquely Italian and quintessentially American.

0:55.7

It brings together the great actor of the previous age, Marlon Brando, with some of the

1:00.1

greatest actors of the next, Pacino Duvalval, James Kahn, and of course John Casale.

1:06.0

Listed as number two on the latest AFI 100.
