Hi this is Steve. As you know our goal with the Cinephiles is to talk about great films from every air and genre.

But there is one genre that honestly I've been kind of avoiding.

You see, I don't really like to get scared.

I mean, seriously, the idea of paying someone to frighten me

has always seemed a little crazy.

But that doesn't mean there aren't great horror films out there and yesterday was Halloween so John and I decided it was time for me to face my fears and what better place to start than a film that brings together the man who is arguably the greatest horror writer in history, with the director

who is arguably the greatest perfectionist in the history of cinema.

We are talking, of course, about Stephen King, Stanley Kubrick, and The Shining.

released in 1980, The Shining is both unique and hugely influential.

It changed forever the way we see the horror genre and turn Jack Nicholson from a great actor

to a cultural icon.

It's available for Rental on iTunes and Amazon and there is a fantastic Blu-ray available

if you want to dig a little deeper. So that's the Shining

this Friday on the Cinephiles. Honestly, I'm getting a little scared just thinking about it.
