I'm John Bets with my colleague Jonathan Shenzer, Senior Vice President of the Foundation for

Defense of Democracy.

I highly recommend his presentation early in the morning several times a week

about the war fighting in the region. We go now to Lebanon. The decapitation continues

of leadership in the Hezbollah, a large organization found in the 20th century,

co-terminus with the attack on the US embassy in Beirut,

the attack on the Marines, the U.S. Marines, the attack on the

on the French troops that was Hezbollah party of God.

Right now it's been decapitated and

as well is gone so is all the military leadership and the question is

what does this mean for Lebanon? Yes, major powers are

evacuating their people from Beirut, but there are the Marianites, there are the Christians

in Lebanon, there are the Druze in Lebanon. There are other competing Shia gangs and there's

always the opportunity for bad actors from ISIS and al-Qaeda to enter into

this story.

Jonathan, are we looking at Lebanon falling apart right before our eyes?

It's a good question, John.

As of the two as of Tuesday morning, the Israelis had entered into Lebanon about a half kilometer,

maybe a little bit more, and they began to destroy underground infrastructure.

These were not tunnels that snaked into Israel proper, but it was underground infrastructure that was designed to be impenetrable command and control centers for the invasion of northern Israel. The Israelis have taken apart that and

they continue to strike relentlessly at Dachia, which is a southern suburb of Beirut, which is the stronghold of Hezbollah.

What we can say with certainty is that somewhere between 60 and 75% of Hezbollah's top leaders are gone, that roughly half of their military capabilities
