I welcome Jonathan Schanser, Senior Vice President of the Foundation for Defense of democracies.

Jonathan reports in the mornings several times a week

for the FDD on the Middle East and the crisis

in all directions. Most recently, the death of Nasrallah has led to

finger pointing in the enemy camp. We're going to turn to a small piece of the enemy camp that is significant because of the

road ahead.

You will recall that the metaphor that is most attractive to be used in Israel is an octopus. The brain of the

octopus is in Tehran. The tentacles, however, include Hamas, of course, Hezbollah

of course, the PFLP of course, the PFLP, of course, Syria, yes, the IRGC, the Huthies in North Yemen.

There are more, but that's enough because we're going to go to North Yemen and the Houthis.

Here to four, they've been disrupting international trade by firing into the Red Sea.

The U.S. Navy, the United Kingdom, the Royal Navy, and other forces have

responded, but I'm told by Edmund Fitton Brown, who reports to FTD often is a former ambassador to Yemen that the engagement so

far has been for the rocket launchers not significantly against the leadership of the

huthies in North Yemen. And then came a strike, a spectacular strike by the

Israeli Air Force that lit up the sky. It looked like a mushroom cloud of flame.

I'm told that they were strikes at refinery capabilities and port capabilities for the

huthies, hurting them badly. I'm even told they've lost power,

but these are all fog-of-war decisions.
