I'm John Batchu with my colleague,

Captain Jerry Hendricks, United States Navy retired, writing into National View Online.

About two weeks that he spent in what appears to be

idyllic Alpina, Michigan on Lake Huron, watching a variety of military

representatives and there's NOAA there too that's about the ocean and the and this and the sky the weather

but we're looking at marrying systems that can exist in an electromagnetic storm or not to jam to counter-jammed

surveil with vehicles to keep those systems moving in, let us say, the end of civic, the first island chain or the second

island chain.

And they had teamwork, the Trojans versus the Greeks.

What did you learn, Jerry?

Well, what I learned, I think, you know, I, of course it's very exciting

you actually see the platforms performing on the water, doing what it is that they were designed to do.

But equally interesting in fact fascinating was the first week when you had a bunch of small

companies and large companies that they showed up with their platforms and

then you had these other small companies that showed up with their black boxes, their transmitters,

their receivers, their antennas, their antennas, and then spending that week experimenting trying to find a payload that would match with the platform.

And then, you know, and it was interesting because there was a number of these garages that were set up around the NOAA headquarters there,

the Heritage Center in Alpina, and they would be out in these garages.

And it was like, John, like the pictures of the old days when a bunch of guys would get together and work on their cars in the garage, you know, working on the Jalapi to get the Jalapi.

Well, this was a very high-end situation they have these very modern

unmanned surface platforms or unmanned underwater or unmanned air and they were

figuring out how they were going to integrate these things and it was everything
