I think the world that we live in thinks that what we are given in scriptures is a bunch of rules.

Mm-hmm.

And...

Yeah, that's a great point.

Like, why would you want to serve a God who makes you do this and you can't do this?

You can't, right.

Yes.

God gives us His Word because He wants to give us the best life he has created us to have.

And when we follow His teachings and we adhere to what

he's given us in his words, we have that freedom.

got a little bit of time and you want to dig into the Word of God with us, you are in the right place. Today we are talking about a scripture that you know, that you've heard, but there's so much depth in this. So we are talking today about John 8, verses 31, and 32.

And it said, so Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in him, if you abide in my word, hold fast to my teachings and live in accordance with them, you are truly my disciples. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

So you hear that, and it sounds good, and you tend to go on with life.

Yeah.

And there's so much in this passage, and as you read the whole thing, but in this verse

that really applies to everything.

It does.

I like the word abide in there because I like to know what things mean when I'm reading

scripture.

It just helps me to know, like, why do we choose that specific word?

And what that means is to endure without yielding, to withstand or to wait for, or to dwell
