| 0:53.0 | Just a dude with a bunch of feelings who bought a microphone and talks about them each week. So thanks for listening. |
| 1:01.0 | It really doesn't mean a lot to me that you listen and that you subscribe and come back each week. It's really cool to see how many of you listen. |
| 1:08.0 | It really is insane. So thank you. And I've got a great episode for you today. It's one that I think will really resonate with you because as with all episodes, it's about a mindset that I live by that really pushes me to do what I'm doing. |
| 1:22.0 | To do what I say I'm going to do. To talk to talk but most importantly walk the walk. And I think that's a really, really big part of life. Such a big part. It's a V part. It's the essential part to being successful, of course, but just happy and fulfilled and enthusiastic. |
| 1:40.0 | To do what you say you're going to do. And that's the biggest question. Do you do what you say you're going to do? Do you do what you say you're going to do. |
| 1:50.0 | And right off the bat, I want to say that this episode definitely isn't an episode where I'm going to be like, oh man, you've got to put in the work. If you want that thing, you've got to hustle, you've got to grind, no sleep. |
| 2:00.0 | No, this isn't an episode of me like standing on a soapbox saying you've got to grind. I think that's a given. We know that. And I will touch on that in a bit. But for me, it's more of a question of, do you do that thing you do? |
| 2:15.0 | You know, that thing you say you want to do, that person you say you want to become. How often do you do it? How often do you do that thing? You say you want. How often do you practice? |
| 2:26.0 | Because at the end of the day, I found that we really are so much more capable than we think of of doing it, of becoming it. That thing, that person, whatever. And we need to look our beautiful selves in the mirror and ask ourselves. |
| 2:42.0 | That thing I say I want that body, I say I want that confidence, I say I want to have that fulfillment, I want that that kind of person I want to be. How often do I practice being it? How often do I practice being that person doing that thing? |
| 2:59.0 | That's the question. You know, how often? Well, and so table that for a second, that's the question that we're going to talk about here. And let me tell you first what gave me the idea to this episode because it's all involved here. |
| 3:11.0 | But I guess if you saw the title and you know, you know, it gave it away. But I don't know if you've seen that movie from the 90s, that thing you do long time ago. |
| 3:21.0 | It's got a young swab Tom Hanks in it. And it's about this band with one hit song titled that thing you do. And it's great movie classic. You should see it. But for some reason, that song was stuck in my head the other day. And it was like this time warp back to call it 2001, 2002. |
| 3:40.0 | And I remember seeing that movie then and naturally as a as a young dude as a young creative guy, I was like, man, that was such a cool movie. Those guys in the band in the song. |
| 3:50.0 | I was like, I want to start a band. You know, I want to do what I saw in that movie. So after months of begging my parents, eventually I landed myself a microphone and a guitar. And I was ready to, ready to freaking rock. |
| 4:04.0 | You know, let's go. And I distinctly remember practicing a bit. I remember the setup in our living room. I remember you boy in his finest cargo shorts and bucket hat. |
| 4:15.0 | He used to have this bucket hat. I remember that and set up, you know, struggling to really create anything that resembled music. I remember that distinctly. But I also remember spending a lot of time lying in bed at night, like visualizing, like fantasizing, |
