There was blood all over the floor and smoke in the air.

I heard shots fired outside, but I wasn't quite sure who was shooting or what they were shooting at.

I moved down the hallway, confirming that all the rooms had been cleared.

I soon found the source of the blood.

I wounded Iraqi civilian on whom I sealed hospital corpsman.

We were probably looking for two or three. We couldn't figure out or confirm who they were.

So we brought all the military aged males off target.

And so we end up at this detention facility and we're turning these individuals over.

And I'm sitting there kind of just looking at them, sizing them up.

This is one of the earliest operations I had done in my life.
