Hello everybody, I am Elizabeth Benton and I cannot wait for you to listen to today's

episode with my dear friend Rachel Luna.

If you are not following Rachel Luna, if you are not aware of her new book, Permission

to Offend, a, get the book, read the book, but B, you are just going to get so much out

of this episode.

Rachel and I have been friends for a few years now and I have had the privilege of being

along for the ride in this process of book writing for her and the process of a traditional

publishing relationship and all of the ups and downs and to see the work that she has

put together for the world is just such a gift and I'm thrilled that we are able to talk

about it in such a candid way and hear the realness of her journey.

The reason I think this book is so important right now is because I see almost like a low

point in our ability as communal humans, right, whether that community is the internet

community or it's a school system community or it's a community within a family, I'm seeing

in a lot of places a low in terms of our ability to communicate with others, our ability

to advocate ourselves without either fear of being misunderstood or without the skill

of delivering in a way that is respectful and kind, we all see this on the internet, right,

we all see this on the internet.

If somebody says something that people agree with, there is ever more a lack of care for

the way that we tell people these messages and it's so unnecessary and I want there to

be a shift for us and I want there to be a shift for our children and I believe that Rachel's

book, Permission to Offend, is a huge part of helping all of us communicate more clearly,

more directly but also with more love.
