Busted Open’s Dave LaGreca joins to celebrate the launch of SiriusXM’s first-ever 24/7 Pro Wrestling channel! He explains how it all came together after 16 years, the fight to convince SiriusXM execs that wrestling fans deserved their own channel, and what fans can expect from the daily lineup that features everyone from Bully Ray, Tommy Dreamer, and Mark Henry to Thunder Rosa and Nick Nemeth. Dave also shares the origins of Busted Open, how it grew from a one-hour-a-week show to a national movement, and the role Chris Jericho played in helping it gain early credibility. Dave remembers some of his wildest and most surreal moments from over the years – puking in front of Henry Winkler, karaoke’ing at Nita Strauss’ wedding in front of Alice Cooper, and a prank call from The Undertaker pretending to be Tommy Rich! Plus, Dave talks about his infamous feud with The Rock that birthed the “Cody Crybaby” movement, his favorite guests (Ric Flair, Alice Cooper, Zach Wylde), and why respect has always been at the core of Busted Open. Horror filmmaker Joe Begos went full grindhouse with his latest batshit crazy movie, Jimmy & Stiggs, hitting 1,500 theaters this Friday, August 15th & presented by Eli Roth! Joe reveals how he shot the entire alien gorefest inside his own apartment on 16mm film for under $200k, pulled off insane practical effects with chainsaws, alien puppets, and a POV camera strapped to his own head, and somehow kept his neighbors from complaining during four years of screaming, smashing glass, and spraying neon blood at all hours. He’s also got the wild story of how he first met Eli Roth (it involves two film festivals, a cliff, and a broken back), how Eli ended up presenting the film, and why Terrifier paved the way for its massive release. Gerry Morrow was one of the all-time great territory wrestlers, a master heel, a world traveler, and one of the toughest (and funniest) guys to ever step in the ring! He was also a mentor and great friend to Jericho, Lance Storm, AEW’s Don Callis, and Paul Lazenby. Hear about Gerry’s legendary giant-hand slaps (and the poor referee who took six in a row), his love for bumping and selling backdrops, and the time he sang Prince’s “Scandalous” at the top of his lungs during a 3am road trip. Don remembers touring South Africa with Gerry, and how his toughness made dangerous situations feel safe. Lance talks about wrestling in Beirut with Gerry, learning to call matches despite Gerry’s thick accent, and one specific crazy “steel can” spot! Paul shares the story of Gerry boxing his ears in his very first tag match, and how Gerry later pulled him aside with calm, constructive advice instead of ripping him a new one. They also cover Gerry’s days in Japan, his Stampede Wrestling legacy, why Vince McMahon & WWF never called him, and the immense respect Gerry earned from Bret Hart and every peer who ever worked with him. Jeremy Padawer, Chief Brand Officer at Jazwares (the company behind the AEW action figures), avid toy and card collector, and TIJ alum, returns under very different circumstances. Jeremy and his family lost everything in the devastating LA firestorm this past January. Their Pacific Palisades home, and nearly all of Jeremy’s multimillion-dollar collectibles collection, was destroyed – rare baseball cards, Pokémon cards, action figures, comics, and even a first-edition Harry Potter book. Not even “fire proof safes” or a commercial bank vault could withstand the flames. Thankfully, Jeremy and his family made it out safely, and insurance covered most of the financial losses. And now Jeremy’s focused on something bigger – helping his Palisades neighbors and community rebuild. He talks about advocating for changes at the government level and fighting to ensure residents can keep their lots and actually rebuild their homes. He even launched a resource website to help – PacificPalisades.com. If you or someone you know has been impacted by the LA fires, this episode, and Jeremy’s mission, might offer some much-needed support and hope.
