bigger than itself. For instance, Washington, D.C. isn't just a city. Its name is often invoked to represent

the entirety of national politics in the United States. Or 10 Downing Street, number ten.

It's not just a physical address,

but a representative location of the entire British government.

Wall Street is an actual street that runs

eight blocks long in New York City,

yet it also represents and points to the entire American financial system.

These representative places are technically called metonyms.

There are particular words or places in this case

In the Bible, there's a representative place for God's people to look to, and its name is Zion.

Zion is another name for Jerusalem, the city of God.

meant to emphasize the theological truth about God's presence.
