0:16.7	Deep within our soul is a relentless inclination to compare ourselves with others.
0:19.2	There's really nothing we won't compare.
0:21.9	We compare jobs or marriages our appearance athletic talent skills
0:26.4	vacation wealth houses achievements kids we even compare past version of
0:31.9	ourselves with our ideal self.
0:34.3	It's as if this comparison thing is compulsive.
0:37.5	We don't think about it or plan on it and we really can't even keep it from happening.
0:41.6	When we compare our lives with other people, one of the things
0:44.8	you can't help but notice is that some people have a better life than you do, or at a very minimum,
0:49.8	they sure appear to have a better life. We can respond to that in so many different ways.
0:55.3	Psalm 49 addresses the common belief that wealthy people have a better life
0:59.7	even when they don't follow Jesus.
1:02.0	The Psalm warns us to not put our hope in wealth. It won't last
1:06.2	and it can't make us right with God. Psalm 49 opens up with a question of why the
1:11.0	wicked prosper more than the righteous. This is the subject of other
1:14.9	Psalms as well. For example if you want to think more about this topic look at
1:18.8	Psalm 73 but I'm sure many of us have wondered why so many people who don't follow Jesus seem to have such great lives.
1:26.0	They're wealthy, they're famous, they're beautiful, they're successful.
1:30.0	All while living for themselves and disregarding God.
