Have you noticed that anger has this hot, almost at times volcanic energy, that is really hard to resist,

0:12.6

and that when we speak or act directly from that, we frequently regret it. But what I've come to

0:19.9

see is that anger itself is not the problem.

0:24.1

The issue arises when we suppress it, when we shame it, or when we act directly from it.

0:32.4

And in this video, I want to talk about how to welcome your anger so that you can embrace it and speak from your

centre so that you leave feeling a sense of expansion rather than shame and regret. This came up for me

0:49.5

not that long ago when I had an important conversation to have addressing what were longstanding dynamics.

1:00.5

1:03.0

1:37.8

or I've tried to suppress it and get rid of it, as if it shouldn't be there. Now, on this occasion, I did not do that.

1:47.2

I noticed the sensation in my body, and I had an intention to welcome it.

1:53.4

Because I recognise that, yes, anger has caused problems in my life,

1:58.9

but it's also absolutely served me. It's helped me stand my ground during important moments. It's helped me stand up for things that matter. And it's absolutely been a driving energy that's propelled me forwards during my search to find truth and escape

2:26.9

suffering, which led me all the way to Kencho. So on this occasion, I felt the energy of anger in my body. And I actually spoke to it internally. I said, I see you. I welcome you. I know that you have served me in the past. I'm not going to abandon you,

2:55.2

but I'm taking the lead here. And what I noticed was this energy softened. And it wasn't that

3:05.7

the heat completely dissipated,
