Smith and Kelly Black. Hey friend, it's Kristen. Grab your scriptures and let's dive in to Joshua 1,

verse 5. Now, when my husband and I lived in Belgium, the amazing pastries so inspired me that I

decided to do some baking of my own for

pretty much the first time. I went to a few small shops in Brussels to get the ingredients I needed,

and then I started making my very first ever batch of cinnamon rolls. I had to mix everything by hand.

I needed it. I rolled it out, and I slathered on this delicious mixture of butter and brown sugar and

cinnamon. And when those beauties finally went in the oven, I could not wait to take the first bite.

But as the oven door closed, I suddenly remembered an errand I had forgotten to run. As my husband studied

at the table, I gave him very detailed instructions. I said, take the

cinnamon rolls out exactly when the timer goes off or they'll be ruined. I rushed out the door,

excited to finish my errand, and then return home to my cinnamon rolls. When I walked through the

door an hour later, the smell of burnt bread and sugar assaulted my senses. I was crestfallen. My husband had gotten distracted

by his studies and my hours of work were ruined. Since that day, I have never left my husband

in charge of cinnamon rolls again. The fact is that in small cinnamon roll ways and big life-changing

ways, people disappoint us all the

time, but there is someone who will never let us down and whom we can always trust. The Lord told

Moses's successor, Joshua, I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. The Lord taught Joshua that

while people would inevitably fail him, he never would.

So the takeaway of the day in five words or less is, you can count on Jesus.
