| 0:00.6 | Hey everyone, welcome to Yoga Land's Yoga Teacher Companion. |
| 0:03.4 | I'm your host, Jason Crandall. |
| 0:05.6 | And today, I want to give you my three best ways, my three favorite ways, to teach yoga students |
| 0:12.8 | how to breathe a little bit more skillfully while they practice. |
| 0:17.5 | Now we're going to look at two different ways of working with Ujjayi breath. |
| 0:22.6 | And when we're working with Ujaya breath, at least in this context, we're primarily focusing |
| 0:27.6 | on two dimensions of the breath, the duration of the breath. |
| 0:31.6 | So that's one of the great aspects of Ujahi breath is, and I'll talk about this in a moment, |

| 0:38.4 | control over the aperture of the throat, the vocal folds, it's a simple method to help people |
| 0:46.4 | increase and regulate the duration of each in-breath and out-breath. |

| 1:01.8 | like all mantras, they help harness attention. The third thing that we're going to look at |
| 1:06.7 | is just a really simple reclined method of breathing. And in that recline method of breathing, which you can use ojjayi breath or not, |
| 1:14.6 | but in this recline breathing, we'll focus a little bit more on location of breath. |
| 1:18.6 | Meaning we'll focus a little bit more on helping your students direct the emphasis of their breath into their abdomen or their mid ribs or their chest wherever you want to do this. |
| 1:29.9 | Now, I want to acknowledge two things first. The first thing is, any student will benefit from |
| 1:36.3 | what I'm going to share with you right now. But the context that I find myself teaching this |
| 1:42.0 | most frequently in is beginners classes or a beginners series. |
| 1:46.8 | I have a, well I'm recreating it, but I have an art of teaching beginners online training |
| 1:52.3 | that I'll release in the second half of 2020 where we cover all this content. |
