Hey everybody, this is Rob Leifold. We are back with yet another edition of Rob Observations. We are

covering comic books and pop culture and how they have mashed up and comic books I love to become

movies and Netflix series and all sorts of video games, toys.

They're everywhere. Comic books has taken over the culture and observations exist to

examine the past as it is informing the future with all of the cool comic book stuff that

I have grown up with and how it has been translated

and how it has caught fire. And that's the world we live in now because everything is a comic

book. Everything from comic books is a movie or a streaming show or a TV show. And I love comics.

They're my passion. They always have been,

and we are going to hit the ground running today.

As we continue to push through towards the late 80s,

we are knocking on the 90s door.

But what is going on in comics in the late 80s is fascinating

as Marvel takes firm control of the market with their mastery of

business and marketing and changing their publishing schedule that will result in this incredible

dominance that once again distances them from their competition because again in 1986

DC is just ruling the roost. They have watchmen. They have Dark Knight. They have Batman

Year 1. They have Justice League with Kevin McGuire and Keith Giffin. They've got legends. They've got

John Byrne on Superman coming over after an 11-year super run at Marvel.

I mean, they are just dominating the scene and running away with it, especially critically, as we've covered mainstream um media is is is covering

everything that the dc is doing rolling stone m tv they're they're just they're just all over all of

these moves not the bright shining time from marvel as they are re uh re kind of uh branding themselves and
