Recently, a curious news story having to do with UFOs made its way from the strange conspiracist media on the far right into more mainstream news outlets. From Newsmax reporting internet rumors

to tabloids like the Daily Star and the Daily Mail repeating them, to the once respectable

news week, which has become less and less respectable

and more and more right-leaning and unreliable, since its acquisition by a company with financial

ties and apparent money laundering connections to a fringe Christian cult, now spreading this UFO

conspiracy far and wide. It emerged out of murky media waters.

But eventually MSN and News Nation, generally reliable and centrist platforms as news aggregators go,

picked up the story as if it were really news.

Now Fox News has raised it in a White House press conference. Is anybody investigating this to see if

these things are connected? I've seen the report, Peter. I haven't spoken to our relevant agencies

about it. I will certainly do that and we'll get you an answer. If true, of course, that's definitely

something I think this government and administration would deem worth looking into so let me do that for you and Trump is vowing to investigate
