Today I'm riding solo. Unfortunately, don't have my co-pilot Josh Kaplan with me, but for those of you that are joining the Founders Journal for the first time,

this is my daily audio diary where I talk about the biggest realization, the biggest lessons, the biggest

wins, losses happening behind the scenes at Morning Brew.

Today, we're going to talk about the power of your word and how it shapes your identity.

Let's hop into it. So I was having a conversation earlier today with a new member of our team.

She's going to be working within the growth

and marketing organization at Morning Brew.

And what we were specifically talking about

was this LinkedIn of Michigan to a CEO and co-founder who's been building a premier digital creative agency for the last 19 years.

And what we were talking about is how she can help me build a process around the

CMO series to make it more organized, to grow viewership, to convert some of these viewers to be subscribers to marketing brew and

she was really excited about this project and I think she's going to do a phenomenal job

but the part of the conversation I want to focus on is when I was telling this person how I think they are going to be super helpful in collaborating with me on this project, which I believe to be true.

But the way I phrased it was, I said, one of the things that you're going to be incredibly

helpful with is building process and being organized in developing and growing this series because, quote,

I suck at being organized and creating process.

And while there are certain components to this that may be true,

what I reflected on after this conversation

is how little I appreciate the impact

that these words and sentences said repeatedly have on my identity as a professional.
