My Daily Diary made public for the world where I talk about the biggest moments, wins, losses, and

challenges behind the scenes at Morning Brew. And today I think we've talked about

this in the past but I feel like it's a recurring theme that deserves to be

repeated is around this idea of productivity and what productivity actually means as

a professional let's hop into it So I'm reflecting on the day and as I reflect

something to the effect of what the day but they get to the end of their eight to nine hour day and they basically said what

what did I accomplish what do I have to show for my day and I think as I reflect on this what

becomes so incredibly clear is how misguided our definition of

productivity can be in evaluating the progress we make as professionals.

I think we define productivity as doing, but if you actually look at the

definition of the word productivity, it's about producing and producing isn't about just producing like doing tasks it's about producing many things producing strategies producing ideas and

basically as I think about my productivity today the reason I felt so unproductive is because I was

producing mostly thoughts rather than working my way through a to-do list that

physically would have felt productive but I would actually my way

way through a to-do list that physically would have felt productive, but I would actually argue is way less productive

than what I actually spent my time on.
