Hello, welcome to another episode of Pop Bear Hikes.

We think of through hiking when the topic of backpacking and hiking long distance trails

are spending weeks or months on a trail comes up.

People immediately think of the Pacific Crest Trail, 2000 plus miles, or the maybe not

so long trail, pardon the pun, the long trail in Vermont, which is 2073 miles and can be

done in less than a month.

But there's a lot of hidden gems out there for through hikers or people that maybe you're

just looking to dip their toe in a water for the through hiking experience.

Today we have with us Luke Cloverdance, sorry Luke if I messed up your name there, Luke

is a representative of the Ice Age Trail.

Thanks to God to be here and thanks for having me.

So Luke, let's start by giving us some history of the trail.

Sure.

Well, our organization, the Ice Age Trail Alliance, about 63 years old, but the trail designation

extends now 41 or 41st year of designation.

So the trail itself was envisioned by an attorney in the Milwaukee named Ray Zilmern.
