tonight. This evening we'll be beginning Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne, illustrated by

E.H. Sheppard. Together they brought this beloved bear and his friends to life in 1926.

One borrowed details from his own life to create his idyllic, fictional world. The young boy,

Christopher Robin, is based on his son, who shares the same name, and the main character

was inspired by one of his son's stuffed teddy bears. The Hundred Acre Wood is in

north to the five Hundred Acre Wood in Ashtown Forest in East Sussex. Milne had a cottage

nearby and Sheppard used the forest for many of his iconic illustrations. Visitors to the

forest today will find commemorative plaques to the story, its characters, and its creators.
