And the Patriots had a bit of a quarterback scare this week, didn't they?

Drake May is in concussion protocol.

Making progress here's Gerard Mayo earlier this week talking about the progress that May is making.

Drake is in the protocol. He's in the protocol and he will be a limited participant today in practice.

So in saying that, yeah, he will throw the ball at times in practice today, but he will be limited.

Phil, if he's in the protocol and he's cleared from the protocol, one would presume you just use the football player, right?

It seems as if there's an actual conversation as to whether or not the Patriots should slow play this and maybe take their time. No, the whole reason the protocol

is there is so that it takes that slow play element out of your hands. If you want the player

on the field, once he's cleared, put him on the field. There should be no discussion here. Even if

Jacobi Persec goes out and leads the Patriots to a victory, I'm saying say he's cleared, put him on the field. There should be no discussion here. Even if Jacoby Percett goes out and leads the Patriots to a victory, I'm saying, say he's

not cleared this week, Percette plays this week, plays well, May's cleared soon thereafter.

You get May on the field whenever you can.

Part of the reason he's playing right now, Tom, is because they want to get as much out of them as they can this season, find out what they have and everybody else, and move forward.

He's also the best quarterback at the moment.

That's the thing. It's clear over the course of time that the team improved when Drake May was out there.

The offense looked better. We saw even before he went out with the injury, three carries, 46 yards, he runs for a 17-yard touchdown.

I think the receivers are better. The offensive line has performed better.

And with Jacoby, look, there's a bit of a more methodical, for lack of a better word,

slow developing nature to this Patriots offense. So to me, it's pretty well established that

of the two quarterbacks, the better one is Drake May. So you'd have to explain to your locker
