Hello and welcome to another edition of the Byron York Show, the no-chitchat podcast.

We'd like to get right into it and what we're going to get into today is the question

of whether Democrats will make it about Donald Trump again, it being the midterm elections.

There's a consensus that the Democratic Party is in deep trouble with midterm elections

just seven months away.

I mean, a big consensus.

Everything seems to be going against the party.

The polls say it, the issues say it, a history says it.

We know that presidents in their first midterms usually lose a lot of seats in the house.

The polls say it, the issues say it, history says it.

The coming election is the type of election that the party in power loses big.

Now that is caused, as you might imagine, a lot of panic among some Democrats, some

of whom feel like we have to get in a better position on some issues, perhaps, or we have

to try to redefine what those issues are.

But there is always a group of the party, a pretty significant group of the party that

says only one man can save us from disaster, and that man is Donald Trump.

Now Democrats have tried to make Trump the issue for the last six years, actually seven

years, if you start in 2015, seven years, they have been basically trying to make Trump

the issue with every issue.

But if you remember, wasn't that long ago, after last November's Virginia governor election,

that was the one in which the Democratic candidate Terry McCollough tried hard to make

the whole thing about Donald Trump, a whole thing, and he ended up losing.
