Hello and welcome to another edition of the Byron York Show, the no-chit-chat podcast.

We'd like to get right into it and what we're going to get into today is the U.S. Mexico

border.

We're going to start with a quote, read you the whole thing later on, but this is part

of a quote, no imaginable scenario to avoid another disaster.

Bad news is on the way, on top of a lot of bad news, it's already occurred.

So let's start out, the chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, Rural Ortiz recently said

that his officers have encountered apprehended 1 million illegal border crossers in the

first six months of fiscal 2022.

That is, since October 1, 2021, that's how the fiscal year works.

That's a big increase over fiscal year 2021 when there were 1.734, 1.734 million

encounters for the entire year.

So obviously this year is well about that.

And that 1.734 in fiscal year 2021, that was a big increase over the year before, which

is during the pandemic, when there were about 458,000 encounters, I mean, that's a huge

increase right there.

And the 458,000, that was low because of the pandemic.

But the year before that, there were 977,000 encounters, which was a record high at the time.

So take out the pandemic year, you've gone from 977,000 for the whole year to 1.734 million

for the whole year to now 1 million for the first six months.

So that's what, that's the way things are going now, okay?
