Dr. Berg talks about the protein amounts on keto (ketogenic diet) and intermittent fasting. The body recycles its own tissue at a rate of 100-300 grams per day. Our bodies do not store protein like fat and sugar. The body can make 14 of the 22 amino acids per day. There are over 50,000 different proteins in the body made from different amino acid combinations. If you have high cortisol, your body could be breaking down protein too fast - catabolic effect. If you have insulin resistance, your body is preventing the absorption of protein. However, by doing intermittent fasting and lowering your carbs, you can increase growth hormone and stimulate autophagy thus reducing the need for protein.
