One of the most sensational things about the embrace of Christian nationalism in the evangelical church is this.

A number of folks who embrace Christian nationalism and promote it have told us in broad daylight

that they believe in some form of critical consciousness. In other words, they believe that they can

use critical theory to understand the world and thereby somehow help the church. This is not sound footing from which to start. My name is Owen Strand. I'm the

Neil, I'm thinking in particular with that intro of a figure like a Stephen Wolfe, who famously wrote the book, The Case for Christian Nationalism,

published with Canon Press a couple years ago. And Stephen Wolfe has since that book came out,

been a polarizing figure. From the outset, let me say, as I have said elsewhere,

and been intentional in saying that Wolf is clearly a deep

thinker. He did a PhD, I believe, at Louisiana State University. He's widely read. He's a

persuasive communicator. He's won folks over to his side. And so we're not here to dog him

in the sense of going ad hominem against Stephen Wolfe.

But we do take ideas seriously.
