One week ago, there was a general strike in Minneapolis against ICE terror.

The following morning, ICE agents executed ICU nurse Alex Preti.

They wanted to intimidate this new mass movement, but that has failed.

Today, January 30th, this mass action has spread throughout the

country in what has been labeled a national shutdown, no work, no school, no shopping. For the

first time, in a long time, maybe the first time ever, the concept of a nationwide general strike has become a topic for tens of millions of people

all over the United States.

We need a new system.

We need a new society.

We need to demand that which may have sounded impossible even a few weeks ago,

but is not only realizable, but an imperative necessity. I'm Leanne Seema Fulahan here with Brian Becker, and this is In The News, a segment of the Socialist program, a patron's only episode.
