The United States may be entering a new era of labor militancy.

A general strike led by labor, community organizations, small businesses, student groups, and

faith-based leaders has shut down Minnesota in protest against the terror campaign

launched by thousands of ICE agents in recent weeks.

I'm Leanne Seema Fulahan here with Brian Becker, and this is In The News, a segment of the Socialist program, a patron's only episode.

And it's interesting, I think, that Minneapolis has again become the epicenter of a fightback

movement. On May 25th, 2020, George Floyd was murdered. Murdered in cold blood by Minneapolis police.

That was videotaped the horrific nine minutes that it took for him to be

suffocated. And then a mass movement erupted, a rebellion inside of Minneapolis. At that time,

it was led by the black community. And then that movement spread all over the country when Donald Trump tried to use the army,

the military, and repression against people protesting against the epidemic of police murders,

because the killing of George Floyd was just one among many.

It's many as three people are killed every day in the United States by police.

So there was this rebellion and the repression directed against the movement by the Trump
