Today's 10-minute walk is helping you create a walking habit you will love. Hi, I'm Dave.

0:11.6

Cheryl says, well, I really did need to start trying to walk, even if in the beginning it's only for

0:19.0

five minutes. I found out the first day that I can barely

0:23.6

keep walking for five minutes and that's taking only baby steps. That surprised the heck out of me.

0:31.6

I didn't realize I was that out of shape. So yeah, right now in the beginning, it's a real struggle. But I think

0:41.8

with time, things will start getting better, though. Fitness is hard. Getting started

0:51.8

1:47.6

experiencing this, if you have recently discovered the podcast, and you are in the process of

1:54.4

not creating the habit, but just thinking about it, you've been listening, maybe this is the

1:59.3

first episode you listen to. And you understand that there's great value, great benefit in walking, getting moving, moving more exercise,

2:08.6

and you've got some motivation to do this thing, but the getting started part feels like a mountain.

2:18.3

And you can relate to what Cheryl is saying here.

2:22.3

Number one, most things are hard at the beginning.

2:28.3

And I would even contend that most things that we want to do that bring value to our lives, they're harder than we

2:35.9

expect.
