On Sunday mornings we're going through 1 Corinthians chapter by chapter verse by verse.

And today our text will be chapter 11 verses 23 through 28.

Once you find you way there, if you're able, I'll ask you to stand.

You can follow along as I read. The Apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit is writing beginning in verse 23.

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you.

The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and verse 24, when he had given

thanks, he broke it and said, this is my body which is broken for you.

Do this in remembrance of me.

In the same way, after supper supper he took the cup saying,

this cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this whenever you drink it in remembrance of me.

For verse 26, whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

So then whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning

against the body and blood of the Lord.

This is a very controversial verse in God's word and it has been the source of much confusion that I'm hoping today

will be able to clear up once and for all.

And verse 28, everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink

from the cup.

We'll ask God's understanding on His Word.

Lord, would you settle our hearts and enable us by the Holy Spirit to focus our attention upon you and your word and that

which you have for us in your word this morning.

We are hungry and thirsty for you and we know that only you can satiate that hunger and that thirst. So Lord,
