notice so let's get into the word. First Kings chapter 11 tonight we're making our way.

We did two chapters last week. We're only going to, I tried, just wasn't quite there. I didn't

want to rush through chapter 11. There's some pretty significant things that take place here

concerning Solomon. It goes downhill for Solomon very quickly. Also chapter 11 has the death

of Solomon and the his son Rehoboam who will now succeed him but not before God gives the northern tribes of Israel to Jerobon. So trying to get

Jeroboam and Rehaboam mixed up. Rehobam is the son of Solomon. Anyway, we're not going to,

we're just going to be introduced to him tonight at the end of the chapter. So why don't we pray and we'll ask God's

blessing on our time in his word. Loving Heavenly Father, we're needing for you to just

sort of calm us and settle us and focus our attention on you and your word and that which

you have for us in your word tonight. Lord, we don't want any distractions, we don't want

any sound or technical difficulties. We just want to be able to give you our undivided attention.

And so, Lord, when we do, would you just minister to us and speak into our lives through

your word, we pray in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, let's jump in, verse one. But King Solomon loved many foreign women,

as well as the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites,

Sidonians, and Hittites, from the nations, verse verse two of whom the Lord had said to the children of Israel,

you shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you. And here's why. And this is going to be

germane to our understanding of what happens to Solomon tonight.

Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods.

That's why.

Solomon, and this is interesting, clung to these many foreign wives in love. Big mistake. And verse three, get this. He had

700 wives. Oh my goodness, princesses. And that's not all. Three hundred concubines that's one thousand

wives okay that's a lot of wives and here it is no surprise his wives
